School Group Programs

Kenesserie Camp offers day and overnight trips for classes of all ages. We are located 10 minutes outside of Ridgetown, Ontario along the bluffs of Lake Erie. Our site offers many activities for students. Teachers can choose activities that suit the needs of their students.

Booking Request

Students arrive and are greeted by our camp staff. Students will be given a designated area to put backpacks and belongings. Depending on the size of your group, students can participate in a camp craft such as fairy garden or a nature weave. Some students might build paper rockets and launch them off our air launchers. Some teachers choose to have their students learn to do archery, others not. We offer paint stick boomerangs (that actually work), pond study, ravine hike, fire building, team building and initiative challenges, environmental learning, wild and wacky games, Instincts for Survival, and water games. A perfect way to end your day is with a campfire lead by the camp staff with campfire songs and s’mores. We are keen to gear the day to your needs so please inquire should you be interested in something. Upon registering your class for a day field trip, you will be sent a form to fill out about activities that your class would like to do so that we can cater to your class.

Upon arrival students are settled into their cabin. Then the fun begins! One popular activity for this experience is a ravine hike! The students enter the ravine and hike down towards Lake Erie all the while noticing and collecting items in nature. Once at the lake a campfire is made and students eat their bag lunch and make s’mores. When they return to camp it is time to clean up and participate in a camp craft, archery, group initiative and challenges, team building activities, wild and wacky games, water games, orienteering, wild water games, bucket drumming, ukulele learning and other activities. Again, we are interested in making your camp stay suit your students so teachers choose activities. Supper is cooked over an open fire, teachers choose from a cook out menu provided. Instincts for Survival is a popular game to play after supper that demonstrates the delicate balance of a dynamic ecosystem. Students will take on roles of different animal life and learn the challenges of surviving. Parent chaperones are also needed to play important roles in the game. After the evening activity our camp staff lead campfire which is another popular activity including songs, skits and stories. Some classes choose to make banana boats as evening snacks, others like to snack in the dining hall. Depending on the age of the students they snuggle into their bunks and call it a night. Older students may take part in a night activity such as: Douse the Flame, Sardines or Night Sky Hike before bed. In the morning, breakfast is served in the dining hall. The day is spent with activities as mentioned above that were not done the day before. Lunch is served in the dining hall. Most teachers chose to depart camp in time for them to be back at bus dismissal at school. We can custom design your schedule to meet your needs. Upon registering your class for an overnight field trip, you will be sent a form to fill out about activities and dietary requirements for your students.

With bussing almost impossible to arrange, instead of trying to book a field trip, why don't you have Kenesserie Camp Go to School? All of the benefits from the activities and leadership lessons taught by camp activities, facilitated by our experienced camp staff at your school. This program will focus mainly on team building and team bonding activities that develop planning, communication and team work amongst the students.

What the school/participants provide:

All participants must come with running shoes, must be prepared to be outside for the duration of the program(appropriate clothing for the weather) and have a water bottle for longer programs.
A park or outdoor area suited for the number of participants present, allowing them space to be moving and active - ideally the school yard
Teacher/staff supervision as per their usual classroom ratio
Permissions from guardians for students to participate in the day’s activities

What Kenesserie will provide:

Experienced camp staff to facilitate the day
6 hours of programming per day, over the course of one or two days - half-day 3 hour programs are also available
All program supplies
Consultation with the coordinating teachers to ensure that the program fits the needs of the group
The program schedule for the day, provided to the coordinating teachers one week prior to our visit
